7. Waiting for the train

SYNOPSIS: This story investigates public transport (and energy consumption) with a focus on trains.

RATIONALE: Regional towns are growing to a point where the local community often debates whether or not to install a train system or light rail like in metropolitan areas. There are also old train stations still present in North Queensland towns, each with it’s own history.

When there is a railway track already by the side of the highway, it seems a pity not to put it to use locally. Perhaps personal stories and information exchange through blogs can get something happening.
